Basement.

So it's mid-November and temperatures fall below zero during nights, so I had to move the R80 somewhere inside.
Since I don't have a garage, I called a couple of buddies and we carried the bike into my basement. It went easier than I thought it would.

Good thing is all my tools are right down there, no more walking the stairs countless times to get a wrench or something...

Wheels are now powdercoated and ready to be picked up. So far I've only seen pictures but the result seems to be pretty good.

Today I worked on the headlight mounts and the tank to get the lowest possible profile for the bike.
Turned out pretty good: the tank is lowered 2 inches and the headlight lines up just fine. Now the highest point of the bike is the upper fork crown.
But still need to get a tiny speedometer and place it between forks and headlamp.

So next up is picking up my handlebars from the shop and order new steel braided brake hoses.
Pretty expensive stuff but definitely worth buying.

Stay tuned.

Seat Restoration.

Bought a rusty old seat at a local BMW dealership's junkyard for a couple of bugs. Took a steel brush with a power drill adapter and sanded it down to blank metal.

About half of the base will be cut to make it fit the frame shape (the still rusty parts). The foam will be cut down and the base sent to the saddler.

Decided on getting short racing fork handlebars. Comfort 0%, style 100%.

Updates soon.

Naked.

Took off the fairing of the bike, together with the seat and other stuff.

The rear frame will be shortened by 3" and welded back to place, the new seat should be on its way soon. Indicators, handle bar, mirrors, etc. are in the mail.

Next update soon.
