Brackets.

Couldn't work on the bike for some time but eventually got something done today. I made a bracket for the battery, the ECU and the ignition, which will all be placed under the seat behind the air filter.
Total weight savings: About 7kg.

The cardboard is just the template - it will all be out of machined V2A steel soon.

And my front fender came in the mail the other day. Great quality piece.
I'm also waiting for custom machined brackets to hold it in place.

Currently I'm working on the front end to get everthing completed. Still need a speedometer bracket which I started working on tonight. Here's a picture so you get the idea. If anyone's interested in the same bracket - I will have it designed in CAD so feel free to contact me.

Thanks for looking. Stay tuned.

  1. Your project looks like its coming along nicely.. I'd realy like to see the finished
Product, so far all the things you've chosen are tasteful. I have a BMW r80 also
And I'm about to start pulling mine to bits, and plan to do similar things!
We're did you buy the front fender?
    And the clip on bars?
Do you plan on changing the foot peg position?
If so what rear sets will you use I'm in Australia and I find
    It hard to source bits...
Are you changing the spedo tachometer?
What kind of seat are you thinking?
    Sorry for all the questions
    Cheers

    1. Hey Nick, thanks for the comment!

The front fender was custom made by a local business in Germany. You have the huge privilege of living in Australia, where tons of famous bike shops are located. Just give them a call and ask if they do custom work.
The clip-on bars are from Fehling, a local German company as well.
Rear sets: Yes, I will probably get a pair of Tarozzi's for a more aggressive position, but I have to figure out the exhaust position first so everything lines up properly.
For now I'm using the stock tachometer, because I found a way to make it fit nicely into the concept I'm going for. But eventually I'll get an Motogadget unit.
For the seat I'm thinking of a tasteful cafe-ish single seat. But nothing over the top to keep the lines of the bike.

I hope I could answer all questions. Thanks for following my blog.
      Tom
